The Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium is located at No 69 Fuxinglu, Haidian District,Beijing covering a total construction area of 63,429 square meters. The structure below storey two is steel reinforced concrete frame-shear wall structure and that of storey two and above is steel reinforced concrete frame-shear wall-steel bracing structure. A bi-directional orthogonal fish-bellied steel truss structure was adopted for the roof of the gymnasium. The external wall of the Basketball Gymnasium is decorated with glass curtain wall in prefabricated units with vertical ribs and golden aluminium curtain wall. The Basketball Gymnasium has one storey underground and 6 storeys above ground and it consists of a competition gymnasium with a seating capacity of 18,000 and a warm-up gymnasium. The total construction cost for the facility is RMB 642 million. The project was started on March 29, 2005 and finished on January 10, 2008. The Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium was owned by the Beijing Wukesong Culture and Sports Center Corporation, Ltd, designed by Beijing Institute of Architecture, constructed by the Beijing Urban Construction Corporation Group, Ltd, and supervised by Beijing Shuang-Yuan Engineering Construction Supervision Corporation, Ltd. It was the venue for the Olympic basketball preliminaries and finals men and women, and two gold medals were awarded here.
