BCIA
Located on the north-east side of Tianzhu, Shunyi District, Beijing, and 25.4 km away from the downtown area, it is the largest international airport of our country. Terminal 3 is located to the east side of Terminal 2 and the design of Terminal 3 has been selected via international tendering, evaluated by expert panels, displayed to the public for comments and approved finally by the state. The design meant to be people-oriented, convenient to the passengers and making the best out of the overall efficiency of the Beijing Capital International Airport. The Terminal 3, an extension of the BCIA, takes 2015 as its target year for an annual capacity of 580,000 flights, 76 million passengers, and 120 take-offs/landings per hour at peak hours. The main building of Terminal 3 of BCIA is the core of Terminal 3, taking a plan layout of Y shape in the south-north direction with a length of 953 meters and width of 756 meters. Having a total construction area of 580,000 square meters, the main building of Terminal 3 is the largest single building in the world. The center area of the main building has two storeys underground and five storeys above the ground. On the two wings and the corridor area there are one storey under ground and two to three storeys above ground. The total construction cost is RMB 5 billion. The terminal is owned by the Project Management Center of the BCIA extension project with the joint group of NACO-Foster-ARUP being the design consultancy and the construction drawings designed by the Beijing Institute of Architecture, constructed by Beijing Urban Construction Group, and supervised by the Engineering Construction Project Management Corporation of China International Engineering Consulting Corporation.
