With BUCG undertaking the task as the chief compiler, work on revision of the national standard-Code for Construction and Acceptance of Subway Engineering was officially launched on August 16, 2011 via a conference attended by Mr. Shi Zhongheng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Tian Guomin, director of the quota division of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Mr. Xu Jianyun, General Manager of BUCG and Mr. Zhang Jinxun, Chief Engineer of BUCG. It was reported that companies from Shanghai and Guangzhou, and company like China Railway would participate in the revision work.
It is understood that with the sustained rapid growth of Chinese economy railways are being constructed on a large scale in big cities across China to improve traffic environment. For the time being, there are 41 subways, totaling 1504 km, running in 12 cities while 1600 km of subways are under construction in 29 cities. It is anticipated that by the year of 2015 there will be 3000 km of subways under operation and by 2020 the planned construction will reach 6100 km. Therefore, it is very important to maintain a high and normalized standard for subway construction and acceptance. Having taken into account suggestions from all concerned areas, the revision work was initiated by China Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
BUCG General Manager Xu Jianyun expressed, on behalf of BUCG, his gratefulness to the Ministry and the participating companies for their support for the revision of the Code for Construction and Acceptance of Subway Engineering. Mr. Xu said BUCG was honored to be the chief compiler and it indicated that the Ministry put trust in BUCG, and added that with the Ministry’s support and the joint effort from all participating parts, BUCG would do its due diligence to fulfill the revision work on time and to make contributions to the development of China’s subway construction. Mr. Xu also said that the revised standard would ensure that a higher level of subway construction and acceptance could be reached and it would lead to prominent economic and social benefits.
