The east main tunnel project contracted by Rail Engineering General Department, which supporting South-to-North Water Diversion of Beijing section, has a total length of over 3900 meters. It is the longest part of South-to-North Water Diversion Project of Beijing section. This project is located in the intersection of Liangshuihe 1st St. and East Haizi Rd. in Beijng Yizhuang Economic Development District. The project Manager Zhou Liugang said: The shield construction of this project has completed more than 700 rings. It is very difficult to operate the shield machine in hot weather. The shield machine could reach up to 35 degrees when it is operating. The workers need to work 12 hours in such high temperature and after 1-hour working their clothes are all wet through by the sweat. In order to help the workers work more comfortable, the project department bought washing machine to wash workers’ clothes. Cold drinks have also been provided for the workers to prevent them from dehydration in such high temperature working environment. It is said that they plan to complete all the shield construction by the end of this year and this project will be finished by September 2014.（Liu Xin）
