February 27, the commencement ceremony for runway construction of Maldives Ibrahim Nasir International Airport Expansion and Upgrading Project was held at the construction site. The President of the Republic of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Maldives Wang Fukang, the chairman of BUCG Chen Daihua attended the ceremony and made a speech. The deputy general manager Peng Chengjun, general manager of BUCG International Li Daosong and the chairman of Beijing Urban Construction Road & Bridge Group Co., Ltd. Yao Ziran also attend the ceremony. The President Abdulla Yameen announced the commencement in the ceremony.

The Ibrahim Nasir International Airport Expansion and Upgrading Project is a landmark project in “the Belt and Road Initiative”, which is considered to play an active role in the economic development of Maldives. And it will also become the beginning for BUCG to participate in the economic construction and development of Maldives.
