June 22^nd press release conference was held by MACL (project owner) in the meeting room of INIA Expansion & Upgrading Project Department, attended by major local news networks.

In the press release, MACL’s general manager and Mr Zhang Fenglin, project manager, spoke on behalf of MACL and BUCG respectively. General manager awarded merit certificate to BUCG as a symbol of unreserved recognition for its outstanding performance in seeing the reclamation completed seamlessly. Mr Zhang Fenglin, while addressing the audience, reaffirmed on BUCG’s capability and technology reserve as an experienced international contractor, as well as its continuous commitment to this project’s successful implementation, which has been given utmost attention by both Chinese and Maldivian Governments.

 After ceremony, reporters conducted interviews in project camp and reclamation site to further report on the project progress.

It is learnt that the reclamation work includes land reclamation and shore protection, major reclamation efforts take place in the new movement area and cargo terminal site of the expanded airport. Since July 25^th 2016, total reclaimed landmass amounts to 5.4 million cubic meters.
