On September 14, 2017, in the conference room on the second floor of BUCG head office, the commercial contract for the development of -Velana International Airport -“Seaplane Facilities at Velana International Airport Development Project in Maldives” was signed between BUCG-International, by vice manager Mr. Luo Wei, and Maldives Airports Company Ltd, by -Managing Director Mr.-Adil Moosa, witnessed by Honorable Minster Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Maldives Minister of Economic Development and Mr. Li Daosong, General Manager of BUCG-International.
T- The works contain a-Seaplane Terminal Building, floating dock, MRO facility and other supporting facilities. The Employer is MACL, and BUCG is the EPC general contractor. The overwater facility project constitutes the most important part of upgrading -Velana international airport and also a key step in Maldives pillar industry-tourist trade. The project will be located in the East lagoon of the airport island and - more than 50% passengers will take overwater airplanes. According to the feasibility study overwater flight will grow by 3.8% annually. It is anticipated that, by 2035, the number of tourist trips on overwater plane will reach 2.1 million.
In his remarks Mr. Saeed mentioned, the waterplane project was very important to Maldives, -and BUCG was a company who were -capable, - and reliable and - were convinced that BUCG would fulfil its obligations and they would see a successful project. The contract carries the trust from the government of Maldives and -MACL. It’s a fruit of successful practice of customer oriented concept. It also means that BUCG has been more deeply involved in Maldives economic development and it has more influence in local area.
Mr. Faisal, ambassador of the Maldives to China, and Mr. Zhang Fenglin, manager assistant of BUCG-International, attended the signing ceremony.
