On the morning of March 15, the expert review meeting of scheme collection for the Maldives airport economic development zone project of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. was held at No.2 meeting room, 3F, the Building of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. The project manager Yang Shaogang presided over the meeting. Seven review experts from multiple units including Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University, China Architecture Design Group, Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, Beijing Institute of Standard Design & Research and etc. attended the meeting. Deputy Chief Engineer of our group Wang Su, General Manager of the International Business Department Li Daosong, Chief Accountant of the International Business Department Liu Jingmin and the representatives of 19 design units involved in the project scheme collection also participated in the meeting.

The project design was organized by Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd., in which the form of international scheme collection was taken, 19 famous planning and design groups at home and abroad including Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group, Archimorphic, Archiland International, Core of Architecture & Art Associates participated in scheme collection.

Deputy Chief Engineer of our group Wang Su pointed out in the meeting, at the end of 2017, jointly witnessed by the top leaders of China and Maldives, Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Maldives Hulhumale Housing Development Corporation signed the framework agreement of development project in Maldives airport economic zone. This is an important platform to promote the proposal “One Belt and One Road” in China and the development strategy of economic takeoff in Maldives as well as an important window for our group to make demonstration in the Indian Ocean.

Manager of the International Department Li Daosong said, as another important project among airport products of our group in Maldives, the Maldives airport economic development zone project is an important carrier for China and Maldives to jointly promote the proposal “One Belt and One Road”. It is not only the node project of our group in the process of internationalization, but also the node project for continuous economic extension in Maldives. We will make great efforts to build Maldives airport economic development zone into a top engineering of Beijing Urban Construction Group Co., Ltd., and make it become a beautiful business card of our group to expand overseas market.

At the review meeting lasting one day, all the design units gave a detailed demonstration of their respective design idea and specific design scheme in multiple ways including display board, multimedia demonstration, model, video clip, VR equipment and etc. based on the factors such as the geographic position, climatic conditions and traffic condition of Maldives, functional orientation, ecological carrying capacity, technical cost and etc. of the airport economic zone. After listening to achievement report made by 19 design teams, the expert review committee reviewed and commented on all the schemes, thought that the design schemes provided by all the units featured clear thinking, distinctive conception, and offered experience for reference in in-depth design.  

At the end of the expert review meeting, Secretary of the Party Committee & Chairman of our group Chen Daihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Li Weihong led all the members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of our group to come to the site of the review meeting to watch display board about the schemes and listen to the design ideas of 19 design units. They gave approval to preliminary work of the project department of the airport economic development zone, presented opinions and suggestions in terms of further deepening and improving planning and design of the airport economic development zone.

General Manager Chen pointed out, the project team shall establish work plan of the next step as soon as possible, expand functions of the development zone in a targeted way, make design and expansion based on sufficient consideration into the factors including use functions, construction cost and etc. in the airport economic development zone. Hopefully, the project team can learn and absorb creative ideas and inspiration at the review meeting, make full use of the acquired design achievements, choose the best among the best, and make continuous optimal design under the historical and cultural background in Maldives. General Manager Chen also wore VR equipment, and personally experienced the new application of new science and technology in the building design field.
