From April 11 to 13, 2018, at the 33rd activity achievement exchange meeting of excellent quality management group of engineering construction in Beijing held by Beijing Construction Association, two problem-solving QC achievements of the Maldives Airport Project Department were both selected as CategoryⅠ activity achievement of the engineering construction quality management group in Beijing in 2018, thus double harvest was achieved.
With the determination to win “Overseas Luban Award” as quality goal, in order to encourage the participation in quality management of all personnel, the Maldives Airport Project Department actively promoted QC group activity featuring to be “small, practical, vivid and new”, set up the warning QC group and H2O QC group in which Project Manager Zhang Fenglin acts as group leader, Chief Engineer of the project Zhao Shaodong and Deputy Manager of Mechanical & Electrical Specialty Yu Xiaoguang act as deputy group leaders. According to actual circumstances of the project, with “improve construction precision of water-stable base on runways of the airport” and “reduce expenses of temporary water consumption of engineering” as topics respectively, analysis was made towards the reason to affect water-stable base elevation, evenness deviation and the construction of desalination plant in an all-round way. Through the implementation of effective countermeasures such as the application of digital paving technology, preference of desalination equipment and etc., construction precision of water stable base on runways of the airport was improved, expenses of temporary water consumption of engineering were reduced, and the purpose of further improving quality and economic benefit was achieved.
At the activity achievement exchange meeting of excellent quality management group of engineering construction in Beijing, 484 QC achievements participated in the competition, in which 325 achievements were released in five groups, 159 achievements were involved in exchange, and 275 CategoryⅠ achievements were finally selected, in which 85 national achievements were recommended (50 achievements to China Construction Industry Association, 35 achievements to China Association of Construction Enterprise Management), 209 CategoryⅡ achievements.
The Maldives Airport Project Department sent two young comrades including Wu Anli and Cui Bowen to participate in the achievement exchange meeting on behalf of warning QC group and H2O QC group respectively. Depending on achievement materials with rigorous logic and outstanding onsite release, two QC achievements were both selected as CategoryⅠ achievement in the engineering construction quality management group in Beijing in 2018. The topic of the warning QC group “Improve construction precision of water-stable base on runways of the airport” was recommended to China Construction Industry Association to be released nationwide with the performance of ranking in the 4th place in the group. It is reported that only 20 quotas for release have the chance to compete for national CategoryⅠ achievement among 50 national achievements recommended to China Construction Industry Association.
Through participation in the activity achievement exchange meeting of excellent quality management group of engineering construction in Beijing, it not only demonstrated QC activity achievement of the Maldives Airport Project Department, but also got to know domestic cutting-edge technology in exchange, made joint progress in mutual learning, and improved management level.
It is deserved to be mentioned that “Jie” in the warning QC group originated from the name of the author A Chinese Treatise on Architecture Li Jie with the meaning of taking the predecessor as example. The Maldives Airport Project Department wishes to inherit the style of craftsman in the great power, continuously strengthen quality management, and build top engineering on maritime Silk Road.
