From June 7 to 8, the 9th Summit Forum on International Infrastructure Investment and Construction was held in Macao. BUCG was invited to participate in it for the 6th time, and obtained two honors including Leading Enterprise for Social Responsibilities and Prominent Figure of International Engineering. Besides, BUCG sponsored the parallel forum on “the Belt and Road” facility connection and international aviation infrastructure cooperation for the first time.
At the forum of this session, with the theme of “Cultivate and develop new functions, facilitate infrastructure construction and interconnection”, more than 1800 persons from 66 countries and regions were attracted to participate in it, including 55 government officials above ministerial level, senior executives from over 30 international financial institutions including the World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and so on, and the representatives from over 630 enterprises including international contractors, international industry organizations, equipment manufacturers, consulting service institutions, industrial chain service providers and etc.
Deputy General Manager of BUCG Wang Liping, Manager of the Department of General Engineering Contracting Luo Gang, and Manager of the International Business Department Li Daosong et al. attended the forum on behalf of BUCG, and gave an introduction of BUCG to the guests visiting our stand. In the layout of the stand, with the green color representative of BUCG as the main tone, it demonstrated five kinds of capacity of BUCG including engineering contracting capacity, head office financial capacity, brand culture capacity, sci-tech innovation capacity and the whole industrial chain capacity as well as six industries BUCG engineering, BUCG real estate, BUCG design, BUCG landscaping, BUCG property and BUCG capital, and attracted a lot of visitors to stop to watch. It is noteworthy that the layout theme of the stand highlighted this point that BUCG is the only enterprise which not only built the main venue of Summer Olympic Games, but also undertook the construction of Winter Olympic Games. The new Beijing airport and Maldives Velana International Airport under construction are also high-profile engineering which will become the largest onshore monomer terminal building and the largest offshore coral sand reclamation airport respectively after completion.
On June 7, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Commerce Gao Yan, Director of the Economic and Financial Department of Macao Special Administrative Region Liang Weite and President of China International Contractors Association Fang Qiuchen came to make inspection at the fair. Fang Qiuchen described BUCG as a large state-owned enterprise which ever undertook the construction of world-class engineering including Bird’s Nest and Beijing new airport. Deputy Minister Gao Yan asked about the construction of Maldives Velana International Airport, and acknowledged the strength and efforts of BUCG.
The reporter of Phoenix Satellite Television interviewed Li Daosong. The guests from Bahamas, Mali, Korea, Cambodia and other countries, personnel from famous enterprises at home and abroad such as China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, Caterpillar and etc. also came to the site for friendly exchange. Wang Liping made a business discussion with State Secretary of Cambodia Mao Havannall, Deputy State Secretary of Cambodia Say Sokhan, Deputy Director of National Civil Aviation Administration, Director of Air Transport Bureau, and Executive President of Airport Investment Co., Ltd. et al., in which emphasis was put on discussion on development and cooperation in new Cambodia Phnom Penh Airport and cooperation in other airport projects in Cambodia. BUCG International also had a business meeting with Deputy Director of the Department of Public Works, Housing and Hydraulic Resources of Mozambique, Chairman of Airport Authority, Ambassador of Panama to China, President of Panama Architectural Chamber of Commerce, and General Manager of Midea Group International et al. Based on the principle of friendly cooperation, we jointly aim to realize co-business, co-construction and sharing of BUCG, governments and enterprises at home and abroad.
At the evening party held on June 7, China International Contractors Association formally released the social responsibility performance evaluation results of international contracting enterprises. With advanced ideas and excellent performance, BUCG was selected as “leading” enterprises for the first time. Manager of BUCG International Li Daosong won the title of Prominent Figure of International Engineering of Year 2018.
On the morning of June 8, the parallel forum on “the Belt and Road” facility connection and international aviation infrastructure cooperation sponsored by BUCG for the first time was held at Exhibition Hall G of the Venetian Macao, in which various parties in the industry jointly discussed the development opportunities in the civil aviation infrastructure field, and jointly built the Silk Road in the air.
In the speech, Fang Qiuchen, President of China International Contractors Association commended BUCG as a key member enterprise of China International Contractors Association. In recent years, BUCG has actively made international cooperation including airport construction. It is believed that depending on comprehensive strength and rich experience in airport construction, with “the Belt and Road” construction and development, BUCG will make better and better achievements for sure.
Six persons including Deputy Director of the Department of Public Works, Housing and Hydraulic Resources of Mozambique Victor Tauacale, State Secretary of Cambodia National Civil Aviation Administration Mao Havannall, Deputy Director of IATA North Asia Region Xiao Jing, Director of Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia Regional Administration Perhrinba Renganathan Velayudhan, Deputy General Manager of China Aviation International Construction Corporation Wang Yongning, Deputy General Manager of BUCG Wang Liping made keynote speech successively, gave an introduction to major investment projects in the airport field of various countries, cooperation with China, and the development trend of airport construction and aviation technologies respectively.
Wang Liping said in the speech, in the process of following the trend of the times, grasping development opportunities, and leading the development direction of aviation economy, it is required to adhere to reform and innovation, strengthen development ability, improve strategic ability to service our country; it is required to integrate advantageous resources, give full play to complementary advantages, and stride forward in the field of comprehensive cooperation. It is hard to advance alone, while we can go further when we stand together. Hopefully, all the counterparts and experts could express their opinions freely, offer advice and suggestions for the implementation of cooperation in international aviation infrastructure.
The symposium was also a highlight. Focusing on “how to build a more complete, more efficient and more human-centered airport”, Project Manager of BUCG for the main terminal building at new Beijing airport shared project management experience; the experts from Cambodia and Mozambique shared experience about how to build a more complete, more efficient and more human-centered airport from the perspective of administrator and operator respectively; Manager of the Department of General Engineering Contracting of BUCG Luo Gang, Senior Deputy President of AECOM APAC & President of AECOM China Zhong Xiaoping presented their opinions from the perspective of construction and design consulting respectively. Focusing on “how to make non-aviation business at airports becomes the driving force of airport and regional economic development”, the experts from China Aviation International Construction Corporation and CB Richard Ellis explained the additional value of multimodal transport to the aviation industry as well as how non-aviation business at airports drives the economy in the peripheral regions of airports respectively.
All the seats at the conference hall were occupied. Over two hours passed, the first session of summit parallel forum sponsored by BUCG came to an end successfully, while the guests invited to be present at the forum still longed for more from it. With sincere wishes for making mutual exchange, promoting cooperation and seeking development, the guests gathered in Macao from various places. Under the guidance of “the Belt and Road” proposal, they jointly envisaged the promotion of employment and industrial upgrade through facility connection, especially the construction of aviation infrastructure. In the future, BUCG will go hand in hand with counterparts at home and abroad to jointly discuss major programs for cooperation, jointly establish platforms for cooperation, share cooperation achievements, and make China’s wisdom and China’s programs benefit people of various countries better.
