On June 16, with united startup of six pavers, the construction of asphalt paving at the upper surface course of the newly built runways in the Maldives Velana International Airport was initiated. At this time, there are 76 days to go from “Make runways qualified for flight calibration on August 31”.
In the construction of asphalt paving at the upper surface course of the newly built runways, the digital construction control technology is taken, in which six pavers are operated at the same time, and the paving width is up to 60m. Since there is no longitudinal cold joint in paving at full width, it can greatly improve the evenness of runways. The total length of new runways is 3400m, and the thickness of asphalt concrete at the upper surface course is 5cm. It is planned that the construction at the entire upper surface course will be completed in early July.
The asphalt paving on the newly built runways of the Maldives Velana International Airport was formally initiated on March 14. The Project Department gave full play to the advantages of digital construction, completed paving construction at the lower surface course and the middle surface course of the newly built runways in an excellent way, and received favorable comments from the owner’s company and the supervision company.
At present, aiming at the goal “Make runways qualified for flight calibration on August 31”, focusing on practical difficulties including the dismantling of existing facilities, the relocation of underground pipelines, failure of timely material transport to the airport and so on, the project management team of the Maldives Airport formulated specific solutions, organized to coordinate various construction specialty systems such as airport runway, lighting and navigation, building monomer, MRO steel structure and so on, schedule construction period, make arrangement and construction in a careful and scientific way, ensure the factors exerting influence on construction including existing hydroplane hangar, MNDF (Department of National Defense) can be moved within the time limit, and the goal for new runways can be fulfilled as scheduled with quality guaranteed.
In the projects under construction including the reconstruction and expansion of the Maldives Velana International Airport, the hydroplane terminal building, ancillary facilities of the airport, management personnel take the lead in bringing forward the spirit of overcoming difficulties, and all the project personnel lose no time in making construction day and night in an orderly way.
