On May 5, 2019, BUCG-CRBG Consortium stood out among the nine strong bidders and won the bid for the New Gwadar International Airport project in Pakistan. This is the largest amount of free aid in the history of China's foreign aid. The bid price is about 1.424 billion yuan. The project is scheduled to commence on June 28, 2019, with a construction period of 36 months.

The project is located 26 kilometers northeast of Gwadar City, Balochistan Province, Pakistan. It is BUCG's first project covering the entire area of the airport construction of BUCG, including a 3,658-meter long 4F runway, new terminal building and ATC building, supporting facilities such as navigational light aid, strong and weak current systems, fire rescue stations, desalination stations, baggage sorting, security systems, and production and living facilities such as parking lots, mosques, dependent’s areas, community hospitals, and community primary schools. It is a challenge and opportunity for BUCG to undertake the construction of the whole system of the airport for the first time, which also provides an excellent opportunity for BUCG to comprehensively improve the level of airport construction.

There are only 50 days from the time of obtaining the bid-winning notice to the project commencement time, and Li Daosong, General Manager of the International Division, giving consideration to the project construction, personnel organization, mechanical deployment, anti-terrorism safety, etc. and the difficulty in construction due to tight preparation time and poor geological conditions, put forward his requirements.

The project is an important practice for BUCG to closely follow the national "One Belt And One Road" construction with the aid project as a lever to explore a new market at a low cost and is also another successful case to build a blockbuster airport around "Big market, powerful owner and large project". The Chinese and Pakistani governments attach great importance to the project that has great political significance. The project is located at the communication hub along the "One Belt and One Road" and will extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to the mouth of the Persian Gulf after completion, greatly enhancing the economic development along the route. The International Division will also actively prepare, coordinate the allocation of resources in the entire chain, perform the contract and give a satisfactory report.
