On July 21, local time, the asphalt pavement for bridges No.1 to No.5 in Hulhumalé, Maldives is completed. As the five bridges are the important hub to connect phase 1 project with phase 2 project in Hulhumalé, the completion of asphalt pavement lays a solid foundation for the completion of the bridge project to open to traffic.
The project of bridges No.1 to No.5 in Hulhumalé, Maldives is located in the second phase area of Hulhumalé, with the construction work being the asphalt pavement for the bridge floor of five bridges. All five bridges are the single-span cast-in-place reinforced concrete prestressed hollow slab girder bridges, of which the span of bridges No.1, No.2, and No.4 is 52m, the span of bridge No.3 is 53.1m and the span of bridge No.5 is 27m. The bridges No.1 to No.4 are located at the junction of phase 1 project and phase 2 project in Hulhumalé, which cross the river course No.1; the bridge No.5 is located in the phase 2 project, which crosses the river course No.2. The five bridges cover a total paved area of 17,000 square meters and consume a total of 2,515 tons of various types of asphalt concrete.
The pavement project was officially constructed on July 1. By overcoming multiple difficulties such as high temperature and heavy rain, large slope of bridge floor, poor flatness of foundation, multiple irregular areas and great impact caused by the epidemic, the project team completed the project of asphalt pavement for bridge floors of five bridges in Hulhumalé only in 21 days through making strict construction plan, accurately organize the management and control matters and taking measures such as fighting against the epidemic, overcoming high temperature, carrying out the construction during the interval of raining and working overtime.
