On March 23, 2021, the eve of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cameroon, Wang Yingwu, Chinese Ambassador to Cameroon, and Cavaye, Chairman of the National Assembly of Cameroon, together inspected the China-aided national assembly building project, in company with Diodor, Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly, Mbera, Minister of the External Relations Department, Vakata, Minister of Presidential Palace and Assembly Relations Department, Combas, General Secretary of the National Assembly, and Guo Jianjun, Embassy Commercial Counselor.

    Ambassador Wang Yingwu and Chairman Cavaye el al visited the model of the new National Assembly building, inspected the construction sites of the semicircle assembly hall and the celebration hall, and heard the project overview and the construction progress report.

    Ambassador Wang Yingwu expressed that China and Cameroon are good brothers, friends, and partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties for 50 years, China-Cameroon relations have underwent international vicissitudes, and the cooperation achievements are abundant in various fields. The China-aided national assembly building project is the specific measure of China implementing the leaders’ consensus of the two countries and China-Africa top ten cooperation plans, the vivid embodiment of China-Cameroon traditional friendship and cooperation, and also the strong support to the organization and democracy of the Republic of Cameroon, and it will play an important role in Cameroon’s independent choice of the development path and promotion of the national development. China hopes to make joint effort with Cameroon, to make the project being a new symbol for China-Cameroon friendship.

    Chairman Cavaye, Vice-Chairman Diodor, and Minister Mbera spoke highly of the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Cameroon since the establishment of diplomatic ties for 50 years, expressed sincere gratitude to China for the China-aided national assembly building, and long-standing disinterested support and assistance, and they also expressed that the abundant cooperation achievements between China and Cameroon bring tangible benefits to the people of the two countries, and hoped that China and Cameroon continually deepen their friendly cooperation and promote China-Cameroon relations to reach a new level.
