They inspected four individual projects, including the seaplane terminal and new-built fire station, cargo terminal and oil depot, undertaken by BUCG and understood the overview of the project group and detailed information about the project progress.
President Solih expressed appreciation and gratitude to BUCG for its hard work to further implement the projects. He said that all projects were still under intense operation when he visited the new Velana International Airport in March, 2021. But now most of the projects have been completed, and the new cargo terminal is near completed. He hopes that BUCG will continue to complete the relevant works as scheduled and successfully deliver this project group to MACL.
“We will carry forward the iron-army spirit and overcome all difficulties to ensure the full performance of the project group, so as to deliver this project group in time with high quality as great contributions to the Maldivian economic development as well as the 50th anniversary of the China-Maldives diplomatic ties.” Zhang Fenglin, MACL project manager, said in a confident tone.
Within clear water and blue sky, as the steady progress of the projects, the Velana International Airport is increasingly attractive. Currently, the seaplane terminal and new-built fire station delivered on August 4 and September, 30, 2021 respectively. And new-built cargo terminal and oil depot have basically completed and now is under commissioning.
At 4 p.m. on May 19, 2022 (local time), Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of Maldives, inspected the Beijing Urban Cooperation Group’s Maldivian airport project group and praised the progress performance and hard work of BUCG international personnel, accompanied by Mahjoob Shujau, Managing Director, Ibrahim Thoha, Deputy Managing Director, and Mohamed Solah, Executive Chief Development Officer of MACL.
