Commissioning of the ThreeRunway System Project for Hong Kong International Airport |

On the afternoon of November 28, 2024, the commissioning ceremony for the Three-Runway System Project for Hong Kong International Airport was held in Hong Kong, with Chief Executive John Lee attending the event. Li Weidong, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the BUCG, was invited to attend the event. During the ceremony, the Airport Authority Hong Kong arranged for three aircraft to take off and land simultaneously on the South Runway, Central Runway, and North Runway. This transition from dual-runway operations to a three-runway system marks the official commissioning of the Three-Runway System Project for Hong Kong International Airport. Hong Kong International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. To ensure that it has sufficient capacity to meet long-term demand, the construction of the Three-Runway System was initiated in August 2016 to accommodate the anticipated growth in air traffic and further strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub. Once the expansion is completed, the airport is expected to handle 120 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo annually starting in 2035. The Third Runway Terminal and Apron Project of Hong Kong International Airport, which was awarded to BUCG, is one of the key projects within the Three-Runway System and holds a significant position in the overall system project. The official commissioning of the Three-Runway System Project for Hong Kong International Airport marks a significant breakthrough for BUCG in airport construction products, maintaining its leading position in the field. This achievement lays a solid foundation for BUCG's sustainable development in the Hong Kong and Macao regions.
